Onne van der Wal is internationally recognized for his dramatic nautical and landscape photography. His work reflects his extraordinary ability to capture the beauty found in picturesque coves, action packed regattas, and bustling nautical towns around the world, including his hometown of Newport, Rhode Island. Formerly a professional yacht racer, Onne (pronounced “On-ah”) found his passion for photography while competing in the Whitbread Race, an around-the-world yacht race. Using every opportunity to capture the incredible action of yacht racing, he specialized in dangling high atop a mast some 100 feet above the rising swell. It was this dramatic work that launched his successful marine photography career.

Onne holds the prestigious title of Canon “Explorer of Light” and he is a highly sought after assignment photographer for advertising and publication. His award winning, limited-edition fine art images are selected from thousands of photographs and represent the best of his vast body of work.
